Deleted ScenesDeleted Scene #6Chapter Four: The Core and Gap Section: The Miltary-Market Link Commentary: This sixth "deleted scene" was deleted for pacing and flow. I include it here because it gives you a better sense of how the Decalogue percolated in my brain for many months. I've always called the Decalogue my ode to Street speak, or more specifically to the way that Phil Ginsberg speaks. I just love the clarity and directness of that sort of language, and Phil really gave me that Decalogue -- without realizing it -- over dinner after dinner. Deleted Scene: Where I Really Got the Decalogue[TEXT BEGINS] Phil Ginsberg has that amazing capacity to boil complex processes down to wonderfully simple phrases like, "No rules, no money," which he always delivered with a sigh and a shrug, as if to say, "It's really that simple when you think about it." I love those sorts of Wall Street expressions, and Bud and Phil would send me off to my hotel with several of these after each of those wonderful gourmet dining experiences they were famous for. These were almost like after-dinner mints for the mind, something to relish long after the dinner conversation had faded, and I often wrote them down on restaurant napkins for later reference.
