The Temple of Familial Bliss

Dateline: above the garage in Portsmouth RI, 29 August 2004

We are home again, all seven of us to include Sophia the cat (safe and sound, if a bit musty). Since we left Guangzhou Thursday morning, all has been a blur. I have written bits and pieces along the way, but Daughter #2 demanded much, as did the schedule that saw us cover half the globe to return to our own little island. The totals still boggle my mind: 37 air fares involving 13 flights and the dispersion and recollection of a (now) family of six. All accomplished in a mere 22 days with no significant casualties save one hairline fracture of a pinky toe (Emily).

I am almost brain dead as I type, so I will only note our return here. Tomorrow I will send on a compilation of posts that connect Guanghzhou to Portsmouth by way of Hong Kong, Tokyo, St. Paul, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Providence and North Kingstown. Tuesday I will pen one last overview of the trip, and then come Wednesday, 1 September, my blog returns to its current international events-centric ways.

One heads up: CSPAN has told us it will air my brief from early June at National Defense University sometime before Labor Day (6 Sept). If anyone gets wind of this, please contact me immediately by email so I can spread the word.
