ARTICLE: China Appoints 'Pro-U.S.' Ambassador to North Korea, Dong-A Ilbo (South Korea), September 9, 2006.China sends a strong signal here, by appointing a non-diplomat Americanophile to the Pyongyang post. Clearly, it's better for Beijing to be fully ready--and fully staffed--for the scenario endpoint.

J. Ragland - What an interesting thought. Why not ask? Try calling the State Department switchboard and ask for the N. Korea desk. Let us all know what they say. If you're not interested, I might take that up. It might make a good 'return' article for my blog.
