No surprise on verdict. Problem for me has always been our decision to have this trial in Iraq vice the ICC.

We either hang together (the Core) or we may hang separately.

Hanging together is a good metaphor -- if tried in Europe, he wouldn't've. Still able to terrorize Iraq and bring hope to Baathists from his jail cell.

Unless he "accidentally" met his fate like Milosevic...

You might want to rethink that ICC love.

UN criticizes Saddam Hussein's death penalty

Slobo is the closest they will ever get to executing anybody and he died of old age while the ICC dithered.

About the ICC, this morning I heard a law professor at Wake Forrest on PBS, who had helped train some of the Iraqi legal staff for Saddam's trial, say that China and Russia threatened to veto any move to use the ICC in Saddam's case.
