I took the map from the pdf file you have on your site and resized it to fit a 1600x1200 screen. Then I created a negative image of it to make a nice desktop wallpaper for anyone running their monitor at 1600x1200 pixels. Just tell Windows to Center the wallpaper and select black as the background color.
(And I can vouch that it also works well on 1280x800.)
Thanks, Brad!

Ever thought about updating the map?
I can think of at least one 'Gap' nation, Malaysia, that probably could be considered core (especially when compared to SAfrica and India). Yes, there are a few border nations with on-going insurgencies (southern Thailand and souther Philipines), but they are a rapdily developing nation with a very sophisiticed populace (need to watch out for the gap between the haves and have nots though). Still, I think they are the most non-Gap (and highly connected) nation (besides Singapore = clearly not Gap) in the region.
Just a thought. Keep up the fantastic work.

The map hosted on the site is straight from the book version of the Pentagon's New Map (hence its name). The last time I viewed one of Dr. Barnett's briefs, he has moved onto a new PowerPoint map different from the one here.
I'm not sure if the new map has been updated or not but the PNM "map" (sorry for the redundancy there!) appears to be provided here as a historical document of sorts..
