Great bit from Reynolds on China

POST: News from China, Instapundit, June 26, 2007

Not fast enough for James Mann, but way too fast for the Communist Party.

Visiting Reynolds' site reminds me I need to buy his book for Vol. III.

Thanks to Keith Mitchell for sending this.

You really should meet up with Glenn if you have not had the opportunity to do so. He is an interesting person.

Your post reminds me that I need to get him to sign my copy of his book...

The Instapundit site yesterday also linked to The West is losing World War IV - an article in the Washington Times by Newt Gingrich. The former House Speaker blames political leadership in the West for allowing the problems of "Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, New Jersey, the JFK plot, the Algerian bombings, the Iranian nuclear program, the conflict in Lebanon and now the defeat in Gaza".

However there is an argument the West no longer supports 'blood-and-soil" nationalism. We are irrevocably convinced of the supremacy of short-term economic determinism - a fact that worries military commanders and Robert Kaplan.

With the global economy booming and expanding like never before, how can we be losing "WWIV"?

What does Newt think is victory?
