The USN&WR column

Tom's new column on China is up:

Managing China's Ascent

Realists insist the U.S. and China are slated for military conflict in the decades ahead. America cannot peacefully accommodate China's rise because it subverts our role as the world's lone superpower.

Check it out.

The hard-copy version will appear in the issue that comes out early next week. China will be the cover, so should be easy to spot.

Cool! Is this a permanent gig with USN&WR, or just a one-off?

One-off request from new editor James Pethokoukis, who reads the blog and has corresponded with me on and off for quite a while.

It was very neat to be asked. My joy as grand strategist is that there are so many subjects I can tackle. I would go nuts being just "the X guy" they always get to write "the X article."

Hmm. That almost comes off like a Freudian slip!
