Hitchens is right. We're fighting at least three Iraq wars

ARTICLE: 'Which Iraq War Do You Want To End?: We're fighting at least three of them,' By Christopher Hitchens, Aug. 27, 2007

Nicely done disaggregation of the Iraq situation. Agree on all counts.

When people say surge works, they speak of AQM, and when they say it doesn't, they speak of Sunni v. Shiia.

Meanwhile. Kurdistan remains the untold success story increasingly under fire.

Maliki seems to have got his wind up over Hillary's sneering, and all of a sudden there's a burst of agreements and compromises on, e.g., de-de-Ba'athification.

I'm still waiting for the boffins and pundits and pols to catch up to the implications of the revelation of suppressed seismic records showing probable oil reserves of ~100 bn bbl in Anbar, Sunniland. For the arithmetically challenged, that makes each Sunni about 3X as oil-rich as other Iraqis.

So much for the resentful, parasitic, poor-cousin schtick.
