POST: The left shifts fire to Blackwater
Some interesting perspective on Blackwater's performance in Iraq.
Blackwater is definitely the demon du jour right now in the media, so clear-headed analysis that avoids the usual normative biases against "mercs" is most welcome.
My comment here refers only to the statistical bit on Blackwater's performance, not the anti-left rhetoric, which goes overboard.

I wonder what the Polish ambassador would say about Blackwater today.
I also wonder where the State Dept. is regarding this discussion. Oddly they remain quiet, no defense but no attack either. Are they being asked for comment? As I understand it, they are the employer.

Another thought...
Is there really much difference between what Blackwater does for the Army and what Letters of Marque are for the Navy?
It seems fairly obvious to me that Congress needs only to look to the US Constitution as a guide on how the founding fathers believed outsourcing security during a time of war should work. Am I off base here?

Even Brookings has published a report on contract issues.
