ARTICLE: Is the Military Our Last, Best Hope for Averting War with Iran?, By Chris Hedges, AlterNet, November 13, 2007.
Interesting analysis, especially on the correlation of forces inside the U.S.

I especially like the part about Bush and Ahmadinejad being perfect dance partners

Actually this comes across as a whack job article, the stuff on your sight is usually pretty good. Mr. Hedges comes across as one of those guys who is constantly adjusting his tinfoil hat and watching out for the "black helicopters". Recommend avoiding both liberal and conservative wingnuts.

very realistic article, speacially, when the militery generals become the
leaders of antiwar movement, goes to show the reality of the demonishing power as a sole hegemonic super power, and the reality
of emergence of pillar order.with the closing chapter of the neocon's
idiology,America has to wake up,and take more responsible role than just this conterdictory bouble standards views, that has cost it
much of its credibility in the world.in order to solve some of middle east old problems, you have to be a fair broker and not under Israel's spell(both repuband democ) regarding two states, nuclear profi, you have to create a blance (as tom mentioned before),you can't want democracy and eliminate radical exremtist, and support the dictaor regimes at the same time, it won't fit.it is interesting we see China now is having social and cultural exchange with Iran deside thier economic trades.you can't just take take you have to give some, this is the age if you don't,somebody else will, and that how empires go down in history.

Premise: Cheney is smart.
The man is clearly not crazy, yet 75% of my fellow Americans sincerely think he would nuke everybody if only dubya hadn't hid the football on him. Just because we don't field a "second half" military right now doesn't necessarily mean that our coach sucks. Our coach is leveraging the fear of our first half leviathan to compensate for lack of sysadmin. That's our strongest card to play, is it not Dr. Barnett?
PS Love your work. Don't know what I'd do without TPNM & blog.
