Tom's reply to Noah

Noah replied to Tom's post:

POST: My "Weird" Article, "Well Worth the Read", Wired, By Noah Shachtman, November 29, 2007

Tom says:

When I said not to make too much of the "silence," I was trying to be polite and steer Shachtman toward a story worth telling versus the weak case he ended up pursuing (i.e., Cebrowski and Gartska's thinking on NCW almost lost the war--somebody tell the neocons they're off the hook!).

Noah simply could not take a hint, and he's also being a bit clever here, acting like the only time we've ever discussed NCW and it's impact on Iraq was during these terse emails. Nifty trick all right, but how about addressing my critique instead?

My interactions with Shachtman on this subject go back much further than these tail-end emails, and they were extensive. The content of those discussions explains why I'm not part of this piece--namely, I think it's a very misleading and unhelpful analysis.

Noah can pretend I didn't make myself clear in those earlier interactions, but that strikes me as simple ass-covering.
