A New Deal for the World: America's Vision for Human Rights, by Elizabeth Borgwardt (powerful analysis)
The Essential Drucker: The Best of Sixty Years of Peter Drucker's Essential Writings on Management, by Peter F. Drucker (the bible)
Soldier: The Life of Colin Powell, by Karen DeYoung (very nicely drawn portrait that's well balanced)
The Shape of Things to Come: Prophecy and the American Voice, by Greil Marcus (a bit wacky in content, but very useful)
The Anglosphere Challgenge: Why the English-Speaking Nations Will Lead the Way in the Twenty-First Century,, by James C. Bennet (awful font for reading, but fascinating material; impossible to read fast, despite my attempts; I disagree with a lot of the projections, less in tone than in direction; he gets me to a point where I can use what I know of China and Enterra to argue differently; incredibly useful but not an easy read--very macro-analytical; but you have to love such an insanely ambitious book!).

I would strongly suggest you read Charlie Wilson's War. I saw the movie... then read the book. While it's a fun read, the serious point is unintended consequences.

Glad you got through Bennett's book. He comes at the world from a unique angle, though the new Walter Russell Mead book is similar to some degree. I have been in touch with him, and posted on his group blog when it was active. His thinking has deepened on a lot of things. I am hoping for a substantial second volume at some point.
