Started to write more of Chapter 5 today, cranking almost 7,000 words, which feels like a record. Began at 0900 and quit, arms and wrists aching, at 2100.
This behemoth (at some point I may stop calling it a chapter, who knows?) now stands at almost 26,000 words. The first four chapters rang in at 35,000 total, so not sure what this means in terms of structure. My goal right now is simply to write this thing through and worry about size and structure later.
The reason why I write so much today, is that I find the WWI-WWII period full of so much material that it's hard to condense too much.
Whew! I can tell much that I am much running out of words.
Book total now stands at 60,000 words. I wouldn't keep cranking so much on this chapter if my proxy readers didn't like it so much, which is a good sign. It's history all right, but my sort of skipping through history rather than a deep retelling of anything. I'm just reaching for this ideal of explaining globalization's history through American history. I'm just much much excited by this approach.
Much much much--much much--much mu

Turn off "word count". You'll quit being your own hero. (Okay, nice job!)
