Gates on the second half

SPEECH: Center for Strategic and International Studies (Washington, DC), Remarks as Delivered by Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, Washington, DC, Saturday, January 26, 2008

Gates is now officially the smartest guy in the Bush administration. Very solid speech that speaks to enduring realities of the "second half"--as I like to call it.

Dr. Barnett,

Your "Trilogy" of the truth, from your C-SPAN briefing videos and books, of Ridicule, then Acceptance and finally Self Evidence comes to mind. Reality often takes time to be recognized but your evaluations from 2004 are finally sinking in all over the place, the Army, the State Department, etc. Thank God and thank you sir!

Caught it on C-SPAN: The Commission on the National Guard and Reserves Report rings these same tones.

Its like the whole world's finally catching up with TPMBarnett. Good.
