Chapter 6, which completes Part II (chapter 4 on Bush-Cheney, 5's American history minimum opus [damn near it's own "Hobbit" prequel to PNM], and the 12-steps to recovering American grand strategy--chapter 6) is now in the box.
It weighed in at 15,280 words. Of all the chapters, it's the one that most clearly leverages off my writings of the past year or so, vacuuming up all the points readers will expect to see treated in the book before I zoom off on Part III's 6 major realignments.
In short, I am done explaining the "process" of grand strategy (Part I) and exploring the American "orientation" (Part II). Now on to the forward-leaning realignments to be "decided."
Total manuscript now sits at 83,871 words. I am not going to bother writing an intro to this part. Mark's already read Chapter 5 and I know he'll have a particular slant he wants me to take on the intro (if we have one), so I'll hold off til the big first edit in May. Plus, I wasn't that impressed with the one I pre-emptively wrote for Part I--just a placeholder really.

Had a curious dream last night.
It was about a very creative artistic architect. Something happened when he rotated an elaborate blueprint to show us how interesting and attractive the structure would be. After that, he would not, or could not make plain two dimensional blueprints on later structures for the workers and suppliers. He would answer their specific questions and give specific guidance, however, they began to doubt him because they were without their own copy of simple two dimension blueprints.
Then an innocent but convincing child showed up that convinced the suppliers and workers that the architect's work and guidance was correct, and was not misleading in a harmful way even though it was based on a complex and odd perspective. The workers could then get some insights from the drawing to do some of the simpler jobs without his specific guidance.
Unfortunately, the architect continued to change perspectives on drawings for future projects and the uncertainty repeated. Each time there was anxiety and uncertainty until the child was located, returned and created a new feeling of confidence.
I got the impression I was seeing a TV series. I wonder who would play the main characters if they did start such a series?
