Cuba and China

OP-ED: 'Will blogger Fidel see trouble? If it's not careful, Cuba could end up more like Albania than the Bahamas,' by Moisés Naím, The Times, February 23, 2008

Cuba represents the first best scenario, and here's how it will happen:

• Fidel Castro croaks and brother Raul ends up running things for a bit, experimenting with markets and letting in a trickle of foreign investment from "trusted" sources.

What I meant by "trusted" in the Esquire piece were fellow "socialists", i.e., the Chinese. Perhaps I was being too subtle, which is normally unlike me, but there you have it.
