As a summary chapter, meaning one that brings together the previous four "realignment" chapters (economic, diplomatic, security, network), describing this one as "social" just won't do, so I'm calling it the "strategy realignment" now, which fits with its multiple foci (grand social narratives, demographics, spiritual and environmental). That way I can place all those arguments in reasonable context and pursue a more, covering-the-gamut approach as I wrap this part up.
What triggered it for me was reading the Economist's "After Bush" special report. Very well done by Adrian Wooldridge.
