The Gore counter-narrative kicks it up a gear

ARTICLE: Gore Announces Anti-Warming Effort, By TRAVIS LOLLER, AP, Mar 31, 2008

Inevitable and fine. People want a different storyline that connects them more saliently to all this global change than terrorism.

IPCC Scientists are currently backtracking on their adamancy of Human Caused Global Warming, and are recognizing that while there are increases in Atmospheric Carbon Content, there are no recognizable linkages to temperature increase/decrease . . And as of about a week ago, the same IPCC people have released statements that tell us now, the earth's temperature has not only stopped warming (as of 1999) but this last year showed a mean temperature decrease of 1.1 degree f, amid some mumbling of an "Approaching Ice Age" . . (which if actually true, would be far more harmful that the same amount of temperature increase)

However . . it will give the HCCC advocates (Gore and friends) a chance now, to say, "See, the concern and actions we took had an effect!"

Attempting human control of "Carbon" on a planet that is basically carbon in one form or another is an egotistical exercise that fails to recognize that the Sun creates the life on this planet and, quite like the weather it creates, varies with a great amount of unpredictability . .

On the other side of the coin, we certainly could do a lot better with our conservation of resources . . We'd be the better for it and the humans of the future will thank us, should we decide to do so.

Excellent comment, large. Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is an unproven theory that awaits the passage of more time and data before it is proven. While we are waiting for that data it makes sense to conserve natural resources in whatever practical ways possible.

Gore and his friends believe that alternative energy sources and conservation will stop CO2 accumulation. They're flat wrong. To slow or stop CO2 accumulation without stopping the rise of wealth in the Third World would require a massive, worldwide, coordinated plan to build nuclear, hydro-electric, and clean coal power plants for the next fifty years. This will not happen without irrefutable evidence that burning of fossil fuels is actually causing warming.

After reading that analysis, decide if you want the U. S. to cripple its economy with regulation and unnecessary investments in "carbon credits."

Maybe it is a normal human default mechanism.

I was in Vietnam during 1967-68 and saw the realities of the political/military/social situation. So what did I spend my reading?

Articles about the horrible prospects of global sea pollution, and the movements that were developing to combat that physical issue with scientific methods ... much more understandable and comforting than all the people issue stuff!!!
