ARTICLE: Pentagon chief challenges Air Force to contribute more to war effort, push innovation, By ROBERT BURNS, Associated Press, April 21, 2008
Win a war and nothing changes.
Lose a postwar long enough and everything is forced to change.
Pretty strong words from your own SECDEF, but the "one-off" crowd is asking for it.

Sometimes people have to have the opportunity to make bad choices and see the consequences before they will listen to a mentor about reasonable choices in an imperfect world.
Isn't there something about that in the Bible?
Oh, but when things go wrong we usually say it is the will of God or an act of God! Hmmmn.

Kudos to Secretary Gates for criticizing and challenging his own military!!
But if you are an Iranian Mullah or military planner and you read this, you come away understanding the use of US military power against Iran being "on the table" is empty, neocon appeasment hawk-talk.
Diplomacy only works from a position of strength and he doesn't bluff well by showing his hand of loser cards, in my humble opinion. His evaluation of another war being the last thing we need is, of course, correct though. Too bad he had to say it.
Which is worse, another war against an enemy regime since 1979 or Iran with nuclear weapons and covert, terrorist proxies?
