Cell phone diplomacy

ARTICLE: Babble Rouser, By Bernard Condon, Forbes, August 11, 2008

Guerilla connectivity from someone who's clearly got his own foreign policy.

I am loving it- Cell phones are an incredible way to establish a communications archetecture literally overnight. Leviathan loves to shut down the nodes- piece of cake - nice clean target with everything but the bullseye painted on it. Also a snap for a SysAdmin to put back up. Best way imaginable to wire up the gap... Problem is people get PO'd when it gets shut down after they are used to it...

Was in PNG & Timor Leste this summer. Aussies & Kiwis have TL buttoned down tight, police & army now on the same page, everyone just wants to make a living. He'll make a killing. PNG is indeed a hellhole.
