Day 5 on the speaking tour

Dateline: Holiday Inn, Memphis TN, 6 October 2005

Sun started in IN and ended in CO. Monday started in CO and ended in WV. Tuesday was WV all day (kind of weird, really). Wednesday started in WV, ran through VA and NJ, and ended up in NC. Today began in NC and ends in TN. Tomorrow begins in TN and ends in IN. Six speeches over four days.

I am getting warm for the BFA tour, all right.

As I said, I got up at 0500 and flew to Memphis this a.m., surprisingly ending up in the Central time zone (TN is very looooong). Speak this afternoon at U Memphis, tonight at Memphis Economic Club.

No Harold Ford, sad to say. I wanted to wow him in person. Called to Hill for votes, his people said, just last night, otherwise he had planned to be here.

I will be letting his people know tonight: if the man's looking for foreign policy advice, I'm more than happy to give to him in his Senate run.

On another note, I listened to Bush's speech on Global War on Terror this morning, and thought it was one of the best he's ever given. Frankly, it tracks very well with Blueprint for Action. So "A" for rhetoric on that one.

As for implementation . . .

Here's the daily catch:

Catch-22 on Iraqi constitutional draft and appeasing the Sunnis; should U.S. stay or should it go?

Now that it's a "secret," pandemic flu prospect freaks out Congress!

Hoping for Africa's first-ever "Big Woman"

The global weather future worth discounting

Kuwait begins to repay the vast debt it owes the U.S.?

Friedman's still got it; Dowd still lacks it

Time's running out to see Lenin!

Connectivity sets in motion of a virtuous circle of flows and possibilities

Congress cracks some rules on the GWOT's Dirty Harry

Another great story on the "dear leader" that is Kim
