The Wilma effect made NPR "Morning Edition" a tape vice live

So many updates on "Morning Edition" that I end up taping my F2F with Inskeep. Great interview as far as I was concerned.

No problem from me in having it taped. That way they take the best stuff. Of course, you have to trust them not to be selective in damaging ways, but I didn't get that vibe from Inskeep.

I was very warm on this interview because I did an hour with Stephen Hedges, Pentagon reporter of the Chicago Tribune over coffee this morning (0730-0830) here at the Jefferson Hotel, followed by another hour with Geoff Fein of Defense Daily, a big defense industry pub. Both discussions were very insiderish, because these guys are both expert journalists, so where they go with the material in any piece they write is anybody's guess. But I was happy with the conversations and it certainly got my juices flowing for Inskeep.

Inskeep said the segment would air in the "next few days," which likewise can mean just about anything, especially with Wilma bearing down, so we shall see.

Still, even with such latency, I felt great about all three press interactions so far.

I don't worry much about getting lotsa press opportunities in this tour per se. I could have easily kept my PNM "tour" of talks and interviews going for another year or so, so I know that BFA will just add more fuel to the fire. I'm in this for the long haul.

My new problem? I'm supposed to tape a phoner with newspaper at 11:45 in my room, and somebody is drilling nearby in some construction effort. Gotta see if I can have that stopped for a bit, or I'll have to retreat somewhere with my cell.
